Biography

Illka is a freelance communications consultant based in Singapore. She most recently worked with Burson-Marsteller managing the Singapore Tourism Board and the National Arts Council account for the Singapore Arts Festival 2010.

Prior to B-M, Illka ran her own PR consultancy and thrived with retainer and project clients from travel, hospitality, the environment and alternative energy through to luxury goods and services.

In her role at Verve, Illka has managed marketing, public relations, events and social media marketing requirements for various client accounts. Retainer clients included work for newsletters, ongoing events, secretariat, implementing promotional and database marketing requirements.

For event project work, Verve was engaged to develop content for, recruit speakers and sponsors, as well as run the logistics for events, such as conferences, forums, and networking events. In terms of marketing, Verve was responsible for brand building, brand marketing and positioning for both corporate clients and events. Verve has also been engaged to develop loyal clientele for associations as well as bars and clubs for example. For public relations, we handled the development of communications toolkits, corporate communications, media relations, as well as positioning spokespersons.

Her clients over the past few years have included ACTE, Aviva, BBC, CNN, the Cornell Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, HSMAI Asia Pacific, The Hogg Robinson Group (HRG)  in Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong,  Japan Airlines, JetQuay CIP Terminal, MasterCard, the Swingland Foundation and Web In Travel.

Illka has also project managed hundreds of B2B networking events, seminars, forums and conferences both in Singapore and abroad, particularly in the travel industry along with the business of the environment.

Passionate about technology, Illka delves into all the tools that her customers needs, as early as possible. From search engine optimisation, to branding and promoting clients through social media, or through electronic direct mail, Illka comprehensively understands how to deploy the latest mediums for growing a brand or business.

An Australian national, Illka attained her tertiary education at the University of Queensland, the Queensland University of Technology and the University of Technology, Sydney.

Illka has travelled to some 36 countries and grew up in Papua New Guinea, South Korea, Western Samoa and Australia. She had been around the world twice by the time she turned 10.
